Disinformation & The Ministry of Truth
When the government becomes the arbiter of truth, Disinformation becomes Political Disinformation
The Political Narrative will have us believe that there are shadowy figures on alternative media platforms who are purposefully spreading no good, very bad, false information. These figures are often asserted to be agents of Moscow or Beijing who are subtly injecting foreign propaganda into our minds.
We are told that these forms of Disinformation are such a threat to our way of life that the Department of Homeland Security must imminently establish the Disinformation Governance Board, which is tasked with policing free speech online protecting free speech from the harms of Disinformation.
The Disinformation Governance Board was slated to be led by career Disinformation expert Nina Jankowicz. How one becomes a Disinformation expert is unclear, but that question can wait for another day.
Unfortunately, after immense public outcry as a result of yet further shadowy Disinformation surrounding Ms. Jankowicz own transgressions with Disinformation, she has preemptively stepped down from the role. So sad.
It appears the Disinformation Governance Board is Politically dead in its tracks.
The Objective Truth is that the move by DHS to even attempt to establish the Disinformation Governance Board™ and anoint itself the arbiter of truth is extremely dystopian.
Moreover, the use of the word Disinformation is problematic in the context of the government proclaiming itself adjudicator of truth. You see, their definition of Disinformation is not Objective Disinformation. No, their definition is Political Disinformation meaning anything opposed to the Political World Order.
The tailors of Narrative seemed to be attempting to weave Political Disinformation into yet another Fake Binary to be forced upon polite discourse.
Echoing an absurd Fake Binary about terrorism from the George W. Bush regime, the propagandist can be heard proclaiming, “You are either against Disinformation or for Disinformation.” We never quite got there, but we got close.
(Aside: It is no surprise that the villainous-looking, Bush-appointed Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff is now in charge of the program.)
Subtlety and nuance are never allowed in Narrative creation. By narrowing the discussion to a simple binary of Good Information vs Bad, the tailors of Narrative constrict proper discussion and debate to nothingness.
As always, we must consult the Commenters and see what they have to say about Political Disinformation:
